The other day I was talking with a friend, and we agreed we weren’t sure what we wanted to be when we grew up. She has been a page, paralegal, marketing consultant at one of the most well-known golf courses in the country, and a dog walker. I have been a page, pool guard, coach, and teacher.
If you could be anything, regardless of schooling or experience, what would you be when you grew up?
I used to watch the Carol Burnett show, and always wanted to be a chorus dancer. Now I want to be that Mom who can travel the country to military homecomings, and hug those without someone waiting for them.

I hope I don’t ever grow up all the way. I get the privilege to stay at home so my boys don’t have to have different caretakers. I get to be a baker, social director, taxi cab driver, craft person, and the maid/butler and everything in between.

Like Carol, I also wanted to be a dancer. When I was a senior in high school I attended a conference in New York with my church group, and one night we went to see the Rockettes at
Radio City Music Hall. I thought the choreography and their high kicks were fantastic, and I
thought it would be great fun to do something like that. But alas, my stocky stature, and general
klutziness, kept me from pursuing that particular avenue. As part of my “bucket list” I would like
to see the Rockettes perform one more time.
